A beautiful wing design solution inspired by owl feathers

Lehigh University researchers have formulated a mathematical solution that could help minimize noise, maximize aerodynamics in design of porous airfoils (2-D wings) to improve wind turbines and air vehicles. The work has been described in a paper to be published in Proceedings of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences called “The steady aerodynamics of aerofoils with porosity gradients.”
