KUWAIT, Nov 12 (KUNA) — Kuwaiti Minister of Education and Higher Education Mohammad Al-Fares said on Sunday the country’s political leadership attaches much attention to scientific research.
Addressing a celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), the minister lauded this interest and support as pushing forward Kuwait’s development, prosperity and economy, and protecting its resources.
Having been seeking to achieve modernity and development since 1960s, the State of Kuwait established the KISR as the first research institution in the country in order to achieve its promising research vision, he said.
The KISR’s key role is to compile studies and research in various scientific domains thanks to its large experience and wide-scale knowledge, especially regarding different development challenges, he noted.
On her part, KISR Director-General Dr. Samira Omar said the KISR boasts a galaxy of scientists, researchers and professionals from Kuwait and Arab countries.
She said her agency is able to make vital contributions to the country’s development and prosperity.
Elaborating on the KISR’s achievements, Omar pointed to amazing successes in seawater desalination, exported oil improvement, energy-saving, development of natural resources and others. (end)
