Scarlett Johansson is getting a Black Widow solo film and it seems that she will be receiving a large payday for the work. The Daily Mail is reporting that Johansson’s paycheck for the film will make her the highest-paid actress in Hollywood. What is involved with the alleged deal for Johansson?
The report indicates that Johansson is looking at a $25 million payday and could possibly get another $6 million in bonuses. That means her pay for the one film will stand at $31 million. Their source says:
“Scarlett will get a huge pay day for the Black Widow film, which Disney believes could eclipse Wonder Woman in terms of a female-led superhero film’s revenue. She has been a lucky charm for the studio in all their films, and brings her A-game during each performance. Scarlett is adored by Disney’s top brass and is a real team player.
This stand-alone movie is out there for them, but they feel it can make history. The wages are high, but nothing she doesn’t deserve given her track record as this character…Her agents have pushed through the revenue bonus payment. If it makes over $900 million at the box office then she will get another $6 million. The script is being written and the hopes are to have the stand-alone film in cinemas by summer 2020.”
So far, Jac Schaeffer was recently hired to write the screenplay for the “Black Widow” movie with Johansson said to be working closely with her on it. Johansson in the past has said the film would have to be “totally different” than any of the other standalone films and have its own specific flavor.
Black Widow is one of the Marvel cinematic universe’s original superheroes; Johansson made her debut as the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent-turned-Avenger in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2. And while audiences have been waiting years for Marvel to give the character her own solo movie, the studio avoided the subject until finally putting it into development last week. Unfortunately, there is still no guarantee that the movie will happen, but it seems more than likely that the studio is hoping to release the movie within the next few years.
Johansson can next be seen in “Avengers: Infinity War.” Confirmed cast members for “Avengers: Infinity War” include Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olson, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Don Cheadle, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Pom Klementieff, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Sean Gunn, Tom Holland, Paul Rudd, and Josh Brolin.
Recently, Johansson came to the Los Angeles Women’s March armed with fiery words for James Franco. “How could a person publicly stand by an organization that helps to provide support for victims of sexual assault while privately preying on people who have no power?” said Johansson, an original member and donor of the newly created Hollywood organization.
The earliest a “Black Widow” film could be in cinemas is late 2020.
