On The Voice, Miya Bass and Drew Cole teamed up on a great performance of Bob Dylan’s “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” for their battle. Adam Levine chose Drew as the winner of the battle. Adam said the two encapsulated everything he loves about music. He congratulated them for making this a very special moment. In the end, Alicia Keys stole Miya to have her join her team.

Blake Shelton said the performance was Grammy worthy. Blake said Miya put all that emotion into her performance. Blake said it was an obvious choice for Drew with how he plays. Blake thought what Miya did would cause him to vote for her. Kelly Clarkson said Drew has a storyteller vibe. Kelly said she regretted for not turning for Miya. Alicia said it was beautiful to see two different interpretations of the song. Alicia said it was totally Miya’s zone as she owned.

Miya originally followed in her family’s footsteps and went into training to become a full-time officer with the NYPD. In her final semester, she made the bold decision to leave and pursue a career in music instead. This new direction led Miya to jobs as a dance and music instructor with an arts program for the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation and, later, a program director for the New York Junior Tennis League. In the past year, Miya quit her job to sing with an 11-piece funk band called Funktion 11 while also returning to college.

Six years ago, the viral video “Golden Loves Guitar” garnered almost 14 million views, forever changing the path of Drew’s life. The video of Drew playing the guitar alongside his golden retriever companion attracted the attention of many. Drew learned to play the guitar from his father and eventually began singing as the front man of his high school rock band back in Connecticut. Drew declined the opportunity to study at Berklee College of Music in order to get a degree in economics. After the success of his video, Drew moved to L.A. and currently works as a bartender at the Pacific Theatres bar at The Grove.
