Bill Maher being fired from his HBO show, Real Time with Bill Maher, over past insults that President Donald Trump looked like an orangutan is satirical news. There is no truth to a report that the late night show host lost his job following the recent events that led to the cancellation of ABC’s “Roseanne” revival.

Rather, the story is playing off of a recent backlash to Maher following Roseanne Barr’s recent Twitter rant in which she described former President Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett as the child of the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes.” High profile Trump supporters are calling for HBO to fire Maher for a 2013 joke implying Trump was part orangutan. Others pointed out the difference between the Maher’s and Barr’s comments and suggested Maher’s status among “liberal” voters has slipped over the years.

Where did this satirical news originate? Daily World Update published the satirical news article on May 29, 2018, reporting that Maher had just been fired by HBO much like Roseanne Barr was based upon Maher’s past joke where he compared Trump to an orangutan. You can read the satirical news article below.

After Roseanne Barr’s show was canceled just because she compared a couple people to apes and happened to mention that they are un-American traitors who support the Muslim Brotherhood, many Americans turned their focus to HBO’s Bill Maher.

In 2013, Maher compared President Trump to an orangutan, even going to far as to say that his mother had sex with one. The harassment continued until President Trump did what Barack Obama never would — he produced his birth certificate, which proved that his father is Fred Trump and not a primate. He even sued Maher for defamation and won a $5 million settlement…..

On Tuesday, HBO announced that Bill Maher’s show would no longer exist.

“It’s time for us to do the right thing,” said HBO president Robert Zacharias. “We have excused Mr. Maher’s bigotry for far too long and we would be hypocrites if we did not follow ABC’s example and end our relationship with him.”

However, there is no truth to the above story’s claim that Maher has been fired by HBO as of this writing. There has been no official press release or statement by HBO on the matter. Additionally, HBO does not have a president named “Robert Zacharias” but rather John K. Billock, President of HBO U.S. Group.

ABC cancelled the revival for another season as ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

Finally, and most importantly, Daily World Update carries the following disclaimer:
