Cards with Atheros chipsets work pretty well, I have one. However this issue has been fixed after, probably because Windows Xp yrendnet been able to browse the wireless networks since the first restart.
Basically, I have an old Windows XP machine in the basement that practically died out due to a host of issues but it still boots and works using a P4 3 Ghz with 1GB memory, so it’s worth trying to salvage. Now I went to Realtek and downloaded a Linux driver for kernel 2. It now connects automatically every time and hasn’t trendner or dropped the signal once.
I use bit WEP security. Results 1 to 3 of 3. So it seems to have the longest range of any of my other wifi products. Problems experienced by MO reviewer may be due to not installing latest drivers, not disabling Windows wireless configuration software suggested by another review or bad location of card. The desktop has been within a close range to the wireless router but I’ll come up with more information when I’ll set the desktop further.
So the question is, having this driver downloaded and copied, is it safe to get this card and assume it will work under Ubuntu 7.

They have a fairly cheap card through mail order. This PC is in a finished basement office with the wireless access point on the 1st floor about 30 feet 2 walls and a floor away, and the signal strength has been very good to excellent.
