Very true about the older designs. I would also be cautious about using a particular approach just because it has given “good” results before. While this standard refers to Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete ACI for many requirements, it puts forth special requirements for the unique cases of static and dynamic loading from funnel flow, concentric flow, and asymmetric flow in silos, and special loadings on stacking tubes.
