In The Goal, a dysfunctional manufacturing plant is transformed after the protagonist has a chance encounter with his physics professor in an airport lounge. See all 1, reviews. In all these blocks, Y never determines throughput for the system. Step one — identify the systems constraints; Step two — decide how to exploit the systems constraints; Step three — subordinate everything else to step two decisions; Step four — evaluate the systems constraints; Step five- warning!!!
The way to do this is a drum-buffer-rope system, where the bottleneck determines the throughput and inventory of the entire system. Alex and his team identify the bottlenecks in their process and immediately begin to implement changes to help increase capacity and speed up production.
